Olivia Smiley, a 19-year-old fiddler/singer/songwriter, began her musical journey as classically trained violinist at the age of four and not long after became interested in other styles of music. She began competing in fiddle contests throughout the Midwest in her early teens, and just in the past three years, she has obtained the prestigious titles of Indiana State Fiddle Champion and Governor's Cup winner, Kentucky State Fiddle Champion and Governor's Cup winner twice and has been the Ohio State Fiddle Champion two times. In addition, Olivia is also a three-time fiddle champion of the Indiana State Fair, and was the runner-up at the National Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas, two times. Most recently she was a top ten finalist at the 2007 Grand Masters Fiddle Championship in Nashville, Tennessee for the second consecutive year.
Olivia released her first, solo, all acoustic, bluegrass album in 2005 and was given rave reviews in the top three bluegrass magazines: Bluegrass Unlimited, Bluegrass Music Profiles, and Bluegrass Now. Distinguished musicians, and some of her greatest influences joined Olivia on this project. Producer Jeff Guernsey adds his impeccable guitar playing as well as lead and harmony vocals, Michael Cleveland contributes on mandolin and harmony vocals, Brian Leaver plays banjo while Lauren Guernsey adds bass. Meredith Needham adds harmony vocals.
